Investigators analysed 7945 participants aged fifty and older in the United Kingdom in a long term study on aging and determined whether they lived alone or with their spouse or in a group situation.

It was found that people living alone who had pets had better verbal cognition, verbal memory and verbal fluency in relationship to patients that live completely on their own, in other words, older people who lived alone, had slower cognitive decline than seniors who lives alone with no pet.  Seniors who lived with their spouses did not have the decline.

This might make you look differently at a pet when you are older.  It makes you think, doesn’t it?
